Titan Games, thinking of some new Terrain
Here at Breakthrough Assault we’ve been speaking with some new friends at Titan Games and they asked us if we could review some of their new range of neoprene minefield and terrain mats. So after a quick think, and like all gamers offered free stuff we obviously said yes. Marcos at Titan Games rapidly sent us some sample pieces to have a look at – this bodes well for placing orders. Titan Games have been making some great neoprene dice trays for a while but terrain is a new product line.
The range covers a number of things from minefield markers, crop fields and urban bases, fields and crops have a range of differing base background options. The terrain mat pieces come in a range of sizes and they even offer a custom service.

So I got a sample of their minefield marker set and Soren some of the terrain you can see what he thought on the Breakthrough Assault YouTube channel. You can find the fields and other area terrain mats under the terrain mats drop down on their web shop whilst I found the easiest way to locate the minefields is to type “minefield” into the site search in the menu bar. Their web site runs in English and Spanish, pricing is in euros.
Each minefield marker set contains 5 minefields and these came individually packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve – handy for when the postman leaves your parcel on the doorstep in the rain. The minefields have the standard Battlefront Minefield marker image printed at the centre and was clearly printed with a good durable finish and was nice and flexible so could be easily draped over hills and other terrain bases if needed. I particularly like the snow version.

Being 2mm thich they match up pretty well with the Battlefront resin basing from the woods and other Battlefield in a box range, so you can happily mix the two. Size wise they are just about spot on as you can see from the image below, there was a very minor sizing variation 1-2mm across the mat and the official distance from the marker to be affected by the minefields effect. I expect this is down to the tension in the neoprene when being cut but this wont make any difference when you are palying and is a lot easier than trying to measure 2″ (5cm) from the small marker and all the player discussion this can cause. For convienience alone things like this are great.
Price wise a set is 18 euros which isn’t too much overall. The big advantage of these over the now commonly used CD markers is their flexibility and being 2D are easy to store you can even roll them up without damaging them, I suspect you can even clean them with a damp cloth if you spill something on them.
Overall they are a nice addition to the after market products available to support our favourite hobby, my favourites overall are the city block mats Soren shows off in the video.
